Wellfields Casino Royale Euthanized After Accident at Burnham Market

The Barefoot Retreats Burnham Market International team announced today that Wellfields Casino Royale, ridden by India’s Shashank Kanumuri, was euthanized following an accident while competing on cross country in the CCI3*-S in Norfolk (England). Further information about the incident was not available as of publication, but it was scored as a Horse Fall.

Wellfields Casino Royale was a 9-year-old British Hanoverian gelding who had transferred to Shashank in 2025 and been his partner for a team silver medal at last year’s FEI Eventing Asian Championship in Thailand. Previously, Wellfields Casino Royale had been partnered with British riders Amy Parsons and John Tilley, finding competitive success in many Young Horse competitions and finishing in the top 25 at the FEI Eventing Young Horse World Breeding Championships at Le Lion d’Angers in 2024.

EN extends our deepest condolences to Shashank and all of Wellfields Casino Royale’s connections.
