We have a drawn order for the riders heading to Defender Burghley (September 3-6) in Stamford, England! As has been seemingly customary over the last few major five-stars, World #2 Harry Meade (GBR) will tee off first as a rider with multiple horses who gets put into the rotation first. It’ll be the 17-year-old Superstition who leads the way down centerline as well as out of the start box on cross country day.
There are a total of 56 horses in this year’s field – a slight downtick that’s to be expected on a World Championships year – and truthfully the competition is quite wide open with the absence of the likes of 2025 winner Lordships Graffalo, who just completed World Championships with a set of medals. British rider Sarah Bullimore has the top chances to win, according to the EquiRatings Prediction Centre.
We’ll see a couple of horses that were at the FEI Eventing World Championships: the USA’s Caroline Pamucku has drawn #53 with HSH Blake, re-routing after parting ways midway around cross country at Aachen last weekend. New Zealand’s Tim Price has also entered Falco, who finished 21st individually at Aachen, and will ride as #55 if he does go forward with the entry.
For our North American contingent, here is the drawn order:
- #2: Caroline Pamukcu and HSH Tolan King
- #10: Cassie Sanger and Redfield Fyre
- #43: Jennie Brannigan and FE Lifestyle
- #44: Ema Klugman (AUS) and Chiraz
- #48: Tiana Coudray and D’Artagnan
- #50: Will Coleman and Very Dignified
- #53: Caroline Pamukcu and HSH Blake
