BH Gringos Legacy Keeps Winning as Guy Williams Claims the Grand Prix of Oliva Nova CSI 2*

Oliva Nova, Spain – April 12, 2026 – Great Britain’s Guy Williams (GBR) and the 11-year-old mare BH Gringos Legacy won Sunday’s €30,000 Grand Prix CSI 2* presented by Dammann Reitplatz- u. Sportplatzbau – 1.45m at Centro Ecuestre Oliva Nova in Spain, where the first week of Spring MET IV 2026 concluded with a Grand Prix ruled by the Brits.

“I thought it was a good course, it kept stretching up and down the ring,” the happy winner said about the track set by Christian Wiegand (GER). “It was good for me anyway; there were not many clears.”

In a jump-off of five, Williams and BH Gringos Legacy clocked the winning time of 40.88 seconds. “To beat the ones in front of me – and hope the one behind me did not beat me,” Guy joked about his winning strategy. “She’s a fast mare,” he continued. “She won the first day’s class here as well. She’s ever so quick and I thought that if I could leave the fences up, we wouldn’t be far away from the win.”

“Last year, she jumped the Hamburg Derby and some four- and three-star Grand Prix and she won some ranking classes,” Guy explained about his winning mount. “I sold her to Tim Gredley, for Polly to ride. She’s still Polly Gredley’s horse, even though I got her back. She’s been really good; she doesn’t stop winning.”

“The facilities are lovely, and the people look after you,” Guy said about the venue in Oliva Nova. “Everyone is really nice and friendly, it’s a lovely place, very welcoming.”

Great Britain dominated Sunday’s Grand Prix, with three British riders following Williams. Alex Barr (GBR) on Preben van de Doornakkers (For Pleasure x Nabab de Reve) took the runner-up spot 1.71 seconds behind the winner, while Carron Nicol (GBR) aboard RHR Out of the Blue (Plot Blue x Livello) placed third. Leo Lamb with Las Palmas VG (Don Diego x Sam R) finished fourth, followed by the host nation’s Pello Eloyduy Ibarzabal on Champenoise de Rampan (Voltigeur de Rampan x Quintal) in fifth.
