Bautista Rodriguez Debray Opens the Touquet Classic CSI 3* Winning the Patrimmofi Gestion Privée Prize CSI 3*

Le Touquet Paris Plage, France – May 07, 2026 – Riding Vivoulette HD, Spanish rider Bautista Rodriguez Debray (ESP) won the first highlight of the CSI 3* of the Touquet Classic Thursday afternoon. At the end of a Speed at 1.45m, he deprived the Belgian Constant Van Paesschen (BEL) of victory, then in control of Diaz du Thot. The best Tricolor of the event, Margaux Rocuet (FRA) claimed third place associated with Best of Iscla.

This afternoon, no less than ninety riders competed in the major event of the day at the CSI 3* du Touquet Classic. During this first qualifying competition for the Grand Prix de la Ville du Touquet-Paris-Plage, which will take place on Sunday, twenty-nine duos completed a course free of any penalties, while twenty-five qualifying tickets were at stake.

At the end of the event, it was the Spaniard Bautista Rodriguez Debray who won. Starting at the end of the program, the rider from Vivoulette HD completed a flawless performance in 72”62 to beat the Belgian Constant Van Paesschen (BEL), at the controls of his very efficient Diaz du Thot (72”85), then provisional leader. Starting in fifteenth position, Matthew Sampson (GBR) undoubtedly believed he could enter the Top 3 after signing a clear round in 73”69 with Nouvelle V.H. Veldhof. This was without counting on the Tricolor Margaux Rocuet (FRA), third thanks to a time stopped at 73”55 with Best of Iscla.

I wasn’t sure if I would be able to compete here this weekend as the demand is so high for this competition. Since its renovation, there is nothing to complain about on the site: the organization is perfect and everything is very well managed,” explained Bautista Rodriguez Debray before continuing: “Vivoulette has already signed a double clear round in a 3* Grand Prix in Gassin three weeks ago (where the couple finished sixth, editor’s note) and I am delighted with today’s result. Even though I wanted to try to win this event, I didn’t give it my all. I know my mare is fast; on some lines it was possible to take a stride back, but I preferred to play it safe. Finally, I wouldn’t say that this test was easy, because it still had several technical difficulties. »

This Thursday also rhymes with first international victory for Bautista Rodriguez Debray (ESP) and Vivoulette HD. Although they have already entered the Top 10 of six international events, including two 3* Grands Prix in Valencia last year and in Gassin less than a month ago, the couple had never before made La Marcha Real resound. Before joining the friendly Spaniard’s stables, the thirteen-year-old bay mare was notably ridden by the Belgian Jeroen Appelen, with whom she progressed to CSI 5*, and also appeared under the saddle of the German Nicola Pohl.

Marcus Ehning (GER), Daniel Deusser (GER) & Karl Cook (USA)
The least we can say is that the field of the Touquet Classic CSI 3*, organized by the Grand Prix Events teams, is particularly strong. Today, several stars validated their qualification for the Sunday Grand Prix. Thanks to his eleventh place obtained with Askala NRW, the German Marcus Ehning (GER) will be at the start on Sunday, just like his compatriot Daniel Deusser (GER), associated with Silence Dwerse Hagen, or the American Karl Cook (USA), in the saddle on Foxy de la Roque, twenty-second and twentieth respectively. Note that no couple is prequalified for the Grand Prix. Although she will be present on the Côte d’Opale this weekend, Nina Mallevaey (FRA, winner of the Grand Prix last year, will also have to finish in the Top 35 of tomorrow’s jump-off event. Indeed, My Clementine, with whom she won in 2025, does not appear among the list of horses entered this week. Furthermore, thanks to their sixth, seventh and ninth places with Lowtaxe du Seigneur, Harlem du Plessis and Ideme de Villers, Alexis Lheureux (FRA), Bilal Zaryouh (FRA) and Pierre Potin (FRA) also qualified for the Grand Prix. The same goes for Nicolas Delmotte (FRA), Emma Bodier (FRA), Benjamin Hedin (FRA), Alexis Gautier (FRA) and Jean Charles Grandmontagne (FRA), all ranked in the Top 25.

Tomorrow, Jules Coquerelle brings the competition to the heart of the city
Faithful to its desire to bring high-level sport and the host city closer together, the CSI 3* du Touquet Classic invites itself outside the walls. Friday May 8 at 11 a.m., equestrian artist Jules Coquerelle will offer a unique twenty-minute show, in the heart of Le Touquet-Paris-Plage, between rue Saint-Jean and Place du Centenaire. Open to all and free, this performance will offer the Touquetois public and visitors alike a foretaste of the competition weekend, and will show horses in a different light, just a few steps from the resort’s shops and terraces. On the track, the day’s jump-off event will also seal the list of last qualifiers for the Sunday Grand Prix.

Saturday, a day of non-stop sports
Saturday promises to be a particularly busy day at the CSI 3* Touquet Classic site. At 1 p.m., the best couples entered will compete for the final qualifier for the Grand Prix de la Ville du Touquet-Paris-Plage. At 4 p.m., it’s time for the derby, a spectacular and demanding format which combines jumping obstacles and natural difficulties, in an atmosphere that is always very popular with the public. The evening will continue at 8 p.m. with the Jump & Drive, a hybrid and friendly event combining show jumping and car driving, which has become one of the favorite events for Touquet Classic spectators. Access to the site and all the tests is completely free.

Sunday, the Grand Prix de la Ville du Touquet-Paris-Plage takes center stage
The weekend will culminate on Sunday with the Grand Prix de la Ville du Touquet-Paris-Plage, the sporting summit of the CSI 3*. On the track, Marcus Ehning (GER), Daniel Deusser (GER), Karl Cook (USA) and the best Tricolores will compete for honors in an event which is one of the most anticipated on the French circuit each year.
