Le Touquet, France – May 08, 2026 – Brazil’s Pedro Junqueira Muylaert (BRA) won this afternoon’s feature class, the €28,200 Laboratoire Prize CSI 3* with Captain Ciwano at the Le Touquet Classic CSI 3*. In this 1.50m jump-off class, the pair – already placed in the Grand Prix at the CSI 3* in Compiègne – got the better of Ireland’s Max Wachman (IRL) and Kannem J.A. Producing an excellent jump-off, France’s Dylan Ringot (FRA) delivered the best home performance with Oakley Ter Wijnen.

After dropping a rail in the Patrimmofi Gestion Privée Prize CSI 3* the previous day, the Brazilian combination of Pedro Junqueira Muylaert (BRA) and Captain Ciwano made amends today, securing their qualification for the Grand Prix of the City of Le Touquet-Paris-Plage, to be held on Sunday. The 2017 winner of the Grand Prix of La Baule and his Hanoverian gelding had never won an international class together; this afternoon, they delighted the Le Touquet crowd – out in numbers on this Friday – getting the better of eighty-three other combinations at the start.

In conditions far more favourable than yesterday at the Parc équestre du Touquet-Paris-Plage, fifteen pairs managed to tackle the course designed by Cédric Longis (FRA). Only 17 % of the field punched their ticket to the jump-off, the time allowed and the triple combination – oxer-oxer-vertical – proving particularly demanding. Several contenders missed the jump-off by a single time fault, including Belgium’s Constant Van Paesschen (BEL) with Unaki de Bornival and Luxembourg’s Odile Gierech (LUX) with Haida du Houx.

First to enter the ring in the jump-off after Cian O’Connor’s (IRL) withdrawal with Gospel Tame, Titouan Schumacher (FRA) delivered a second clear round in 46.24 seconds, eventually finishing seventh. Just after him, Britain’s Robert Whitaker had a fault on the final oxer in CWD’s colours with Strike A Pose.

Dylan Ringot (FRA) then produced a particularly convincing round: the rider from northern France stopped the clock in 44.70 seconds and took the lead, before being overtaken by Pedro Junqueira Muylaert (44.24) and Max Wachman (44.34). At the end of the class, Alexandra Ledermann (FRA) earned a place in the top four with a strong double clear in 45.85 seconds aboard Fidji des Trois Croix, contesting only her first 1.50m class. Although he had produced a brilliant clear round in the first round with Caracole de la Roque, the United States’ Karl Cook chose not to start in the jump-off, no doubt to spare his Zandor daughter, with whom he finished seventh in last year’s Grand Prix. Riding Un Secreto and Dynamite Dillon, Britain’s Matthew Sampson (GBR) and the Netherlands’ Lars Kersten (NED) took fifth and sixth place after producing fault-free jump-offs in 45.91 and 46.10 seconds respectively.

Just before the prize-giving, Pedro Junqueira Muylaert (BRA) commented: “I’m delighted with this victory. I really like Captain Ciwano and I have high hopes for him. Today’s class was already at a very good level, with a lot of starters. With so many riders at the start, it’s only natural that the course was quite demanding. Captain Ciwano jumped very well and I think he’s ready for Sunday’s Grand Prix. He has many qualities and had already finished ninth in the Grand Prix of Compiègne, but we hadn’t been quick enough in the jump-off. Today, I tried to improve our speed to try to win, but also so that our partnership keeps gaining experience.”

Jules Coquerelle takes the breath away in central Le Touquet-Paris-Plage

The spirit of the Touquet Classic had already taken hold beyond the arenas earlier in the day. At 11 a.m., equestrian artist Jules Coquerelle took over rue Saint-Jean and place du Centenaire for an exclusive twenty-minute performance featuring two horses at liberty. Around one hundred spectators – residents and visitors alike – attended this free event, which illustrates the determination of the show, organised by the Grand Prix Events team, to forge a strong link between top-level sport and the host town.

Tomorrow, a Full Day of Non-stop Sport

Saturday promises to be a particularly busy day on site at the CSI 3* du Touquet Classic, with three sporting highlights. At 1 p.m., the leading combinations will contest the Grand Prix du Samedi presented by Range Rover, a 1.45m class which serves as the final qualifier for the Grand Prix of the City of Le Touquet-Paris-Plage. At 4 p.m., the Derby by Devoucoux at 1.35m will follow – a spectacular and demanding format combining show-jumping obstacles and natural difficulties, in an atmosphere always very much enjoyed by the public. The day will continue at 8 p.m. with the Jump & Drive, a hybrid and convivial class combining show jumping and motor driving, which has become one of the favourite events for spectators at the Touquet Classic. Access to the venue and to all classes is entirely free.

Sunday, the Grand Prix of the City of Le Touquet-Paris-Plage as the Climax

The weekend will culminate on Sunday with the Grand Prix of the City of Le Touquet-Paris-Plage, the sporting peak of the CSI 3*. In the arena, Marcus Ehning (GER), Daniel Deusser (GER), Karl Cook (USA), Pedro Junqueira Muylaert (BRA) and the leading French riders will contest the honours of one of the most eagerly awaited classes on the French circuit each year.

All classes of the CSI 3* du Touquet Classic are streamed live and available on demand on GRANDPRIX.tv
