Hickstead, England – June 20, 2024 – It was a busy day on Saturday at Hickstead – The All England Jumping Course. William Fletcher (GBR) enjoyed his first Hickstead International Arena win, beating 56 rivals to claim top honors in the €28,360 Hickstead Master’s Trophy with the 11-year-old grey mare Iwalinde.
The British rider and the 2013 grey Royal Dutch Sport Horse / Dutch Warmblood mare (VDL Zirocco Blue x Corland) were supreme in the tiebreaker against 10 other combinations out of the original 55 other pairs who took part in the first round of the 1.50m challenge, completing the decisive round in flawless fashion in 41.87 seconds.
Six other contestants matched the double clear of the eventual winners with Shane Breen (IRL) and Koh-I-Noor finishing second in 42.73 seconds and Jade Burgess (GBR) rounding out the podium with Oilina just nine-hundredths of a second behind.

“It’s fantastic – I just cannot believe it,” said William. “The horse jumped her absolute socks off. I’m just so pleased – to go in that ring with so much history, and so much prestige, and to come out with a win like that against some of the best riders in the world just felt fantastic.
