Galway Downs International is debuting this weekend in the US with divisions from Novice through 4*- S. Last week’s 4* success was eventing warrior Tamie Smith and Mai Baum, who both played for the team only four weeks before they were declared Kentucky champions at The Best Trip All Year. Will Tamie even compete in the Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event to protect her name after another spin’round of Galway Downs? Attempts are on the horizon – eye on!

On the other side of the lake, eventers, program designers, judges, staff, volunteers and eventing fans are all thinking beautiful thoughts ahead of this week’s BEDE Events ‘ Thoresby Eventing Spring Carnival. The 4*- S, which has been hailed as the starting level for the upcoming Paris-style season, has attracted a staggering 126 submissions as users clamor to split into the most elite of teams. The opposition is hot, hot, warm, that’s for certain – fingers crossed for the climate to meet. The passage listing is essentially straight out of the who’s who of British and Irish eventing – with an Olympic gold medalist, the World Champion, the German Champion, and the royal Badminton, Burghley, Maryland, Luhmuhlen and Pau winners all in the line up. There’s also representation for New Zealanḑ, the Netherlands, France, Italy, South Africa and Japan, with Cosby Green and Grace Taylor flying the Starȿ and Stripes for the States. If you’re not able to be there to witness all this eventing glory in the flesh, you can follow along with what’s sure to be a superb competition with H&amp, C+ ( subscription required ).
