One Big Thing: Exclusive Eventing Camp Offered in France with World-Class Coaching
Have you ever wanted a fully-immersive training experience while also taking a European vacation? 5* eventers Arthur and Logan Duffort and Paul Gatien have created exactly what they always wished they’d had access to when going up the levels themselves: an immersive and all-inclusive eventing camp designed for ambitious young and adult riders who want to pursue their goals and experience eventing abroad.
EN wrote about their first camps that debuted at Otis Eventing last year, which were incredibly well-received. This year’s programs will continue to feature top-tier instruction and personal mentorship from major players in the highest levels of eventing, but will now be available in weekly sessions at an all-inclusive rate from May through October.
However, eventing isn’t the only focus of these camps — Arthur, Logan, and Paul also intend to provide an authentic insight into not only running an international eventing operation, but also into the local culture, cuisine, and history of France. Although Logan currently calls France home, she rides for the US after growing up in California, and stresses the importance of exploration and education within their offered programs. “It’s about riding, of course,” she states, “but it’s also about growing as a person, building your network, and gaining a global perspective on the sport.”
What is the camp’s structure?
Designed to elevate skills and expand perspective, each day at Otis Eventing Camp is structured into three parts: riding sessions, afternoon activities, and evening educational tuition.
Riding Sessions: Quality horses will be provided for each student during their camp week, on which they’ll participate in dressage, show jumping, and cross-country training sessions with Arthur, Logan, and Paul.
Afternoon Activities: Off-site excursions include local watersports, visits to a local châteaux and the iconic Cadre Noir, city tours, and authentic French cuisine.
Eventing Education: Hands-on demonstrations, mentorship, and Q&A sessions will feature top international riders such as 5* riders Jonelle Price and Harry Meade, as well as other members of the industry, like 5* groom Leo Gignoux.
These camps in Tours, France, are geared towards riders who have competed at CCI1* level or above — although special cases may be considered for riders just below 1* level — and include meals, accommodation, and all activities.
