Special by Tradition! Intesa Sanpaolo Nations Cup this Friday at Piazza di Siena

Rome, Italy – May 23, 2025 – The theme of flags will take centre-stage this Friday, May 23, when the full focus of the 92nd edition of the CSIO 5* of Rome – Master d’Inzeo will be trained on the eagerly awaited Intesa Sanpaolo Nations Cup.

In the traditional formula of two rounds (the first, starting at 2:30 p.m., qualifying for the Grand Prix) and a prize pool of 220,000 euros, a total of 10 nations will line out. The draw for order-of-go took place on Wednesday, and it will be Team USA who will be first to tackle the course on the Oval, followed in order by Brazil, the Netherlands, Argentina, Great Britain, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Switzerland, France and Italy.

Five-ringed superstars
Within the teams that will put on a show at Villa Borghese, where crowds of spectators will see the best in the world in action quite free of charge, are many five-ringed superstars including pairs that participated at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The red-cross team from Switzerland, three-time Nations Cup winners in Rome, for example, will field Steve Guerdat and Martin Fuchs, while among the Americans three athletes out of four – Laura Kraut(USA), McLain Ward (USA) and Karl Cook (USA), winner of the 2024 Rolex Grand Prix of Rome – will compete to secure a Cup that has already been theirs five times.

The United Arab Emirates are also in Rome with their Paris Olympic squad and are highly motivated to make the most of their second participation among the teams at Piazza di Siena.

 Super determined
As for Germany, with 10 victories under their belt, you can bet that Otto Becker’s team, which includes three female athletes, will be super determined to repeat the success of 2024 which will put them on par with Great Britain in the Roll of Honour of this extraordinary competition.

With 11 Cups in the Roman oval already to their credit, Britain’s Union Jack will this year be carried by two of their big guns who took team gold in Paris last summer, Ben Maher and Scott Brash.

Between icons, idols and outsiders, the Intesa Sanpaolo Nations Cup, over the 1.60m course designed by Uliano Vezzani, confirms itself as one of the precious gems of this incredible event in the heart of the Roman capital.

Don’t miss a moment as history once again unfolds…
