Lexington, KY – May 7, 2026 – Kentucky Horse Shows, LLC, was thrilled to welcome professional hunter riders back to the Kentucky Horse Park this week as hunter action to center stage in the Stonelea ring. Rivers Edge’s Scott Stewart has a name that is synonymous with victory, and Kentucky Spring Horse Shows was no exception as he swept the Green Conformation Hunter division aboard Rosewood. After earning the division’s championship prize, the duo also returned to the ring to accept the Professional Grand Hunter Championship, presented by Hagyard Equine Medical Institute.
“We love coming to Kentucky, and the horses always love it here,” smiled Stewart after his win. “I think all my horses come here after Florida and just take a breath. The energy is a little bit calmer, and Rosewood was so settled in every round. She is a beautiful horse, a good mover, and she’s an incredible jumper – very scopey.”
Rosewood showcased her brilliance and consistency during the first two days of competition at the Kentucky Spring Horse Show. Stewart and the 9-year-old Oldenburg mare by Balou Du Rouet won all four over fences classes during the Green Conformation Hunter division, and after proving that she is a beautiful mover as well, Rosewood won the under saddle to claim the championship prize. With a clean sweep and 55 points in the division, Rosewood’s performance was also rewarded with the Grand Hunter Championship, presented by Hagyard Equine Medical Institute.
Scott Stewart and Rosewood
Stewart began showing Rosewood during Capital Challenge last year, and they were consistent from the start, claiming the reserve championship at their first show. She was purchased off of a video from the Czech Republic, and when she arrived, Stewart was even more impressed.
“She was actually even a better mover than I thought on the video,” explained Stewart. “She’s just such a good jumper. She tries hard every time – sometimes too hard. She’s into it, and she’s really gotten into the hunter mode now. In Florida, she was circuit champion and she’s finally getting into the groove. I am hoping to keep her and do the High Performance with her next year because she has all the scope.”
As a World Champion Hunter Rider week, the Kentucky Spring Horse Show will feature more hunter action this week, including Friday’s $7,500 Open National Hunter Derby and $7,500 Jr/AM National Hunter Derby, presented by All Bizness Insurance, and Sunday’s $1,500 2’6” Non-Pro Hunter Derby.
