Basel, Switzerland – January 0, 2026 – Romain Duguet (SUI) got off to a great start on opening day of the Longines CHI Classics – Basel CSI 5*-W in Switzerland. Competing on home soil and having the crowd cheering for you is always an advantage and the Swiss rider took advantage of that, teaming up with Bel Canto de Boguin to victory in the €30,300 Range Rover Prize CSI 5*-W.
Duguet dashed past the competition in the 1.45m two-phase challenge aboard the 10-year-old bay Holsteiner stallion (Diamant de Semilly x Caretino), registering no penalties in 23.45 seconds in the second part of the 1.45m course.

The win was enhanced by the fact that he managed to nip fellow countryman Martin Fuchs (SUI), who led Love de Vie across the finish line in 23.68 seconds.
Jos Verlooy (BEL) and Etundel de Marocy completed the podium with no penalties too, securing third place in 24. 16 seconds.
