Compiègne, France – April 11, 2026 – What an edition. Five days of great sport, thousands of spectators, world number one Scott Brash on the track, and to finish, Roger-Yves Bost (FRA) at the top of his art. The fifth edition of Compiègne Classic ended this Saturday in apotheosis at the Stade Équestre du Grand Parc, with the victory of Bosty and Ballerine du Vilpion in the €56,800 Grand Prix City of Compiègne CSI 3* – 1.55m. The Barbizon rider snatched victory from the hands of Bilal Zaryouh, (FRA) second on Grabuge, while Éden Leprevost Blin-Lebreton (FRA) completed a superb French podium on Barbie de la Roque.
Bosty, Back at the Top in Compiègne
“I am all the more happy to win this Grand Prix as my last victory here in such an event dates back to… the 1990s!” smiles Roger-Yves Bost (FRA), brilliant winner of the €56,800 Grand Prix City of Compiègne CSI 3*. A line which alone sums up the longevity of an extraordinary champion: individual European champion in 2013, Olympic team champion in 2016 and world team champion in 1990, Bosty has once again demonstrated that experience and class do not wear out.
For this victory, he saddled Ballerine du Vilpion, already victorious in February at the Longines Grand Prix of the CSI 5* in Hong Kong. Fifty-seventh of the sixty qualifiers to start on Yann Royant‘s (FRA) course, he signed the eighteenth and final clear round of the initial round before starting last in the jump-off, and finding the perfect rhythm to beat Bilal Zaryouh (FRA) at the post.
Super Bilal, Magnificent Eden
Until the last drivers entered the track, it was Éden Leprevost Blin-Lebreton (FRA) who firmly held the lead, thanks to a smoothly driven lap on a very lively Barbie de la Roque. Bilal Zaryouh (FRA) took the lead on Grabuge, his dashing ten-year-old stallion, full brother of the brilliant Orient Express*HDC, a very good second place, despite some regrets about the management of his end of turn.
Frédéric Bouvard (FRA) and Nina Mallevaey (FRA) completed a very fine French quintet, riding Kinoa d’Ayrifagne and the very promising Destine To Be. The foreigners, present in quantity and quality, were not left out: Robin van Thillo, Mathijs van Asten (NED), Anthony Bourquard (SUI), Pedro Junqueira Muylaert (BRA) and Jonna Ekberg (SWE) took sixth to tenth places, almost all tested at level 5*.
A 2026 Edition that Meets all Ambitions
The fifth edition of Compiègne Classic ends with the feeling of an event which has fully kept its promises. By attracting eleven of the hundred best riders in the world, including world number one Scott Brash for his first participation, and by offering free and open access every day to a large and enthusiastic public, Compiègne Classic confirms its place among the essential stages of the international jumping calendar.
The Grand Prix Events season continues next week with the French Young Riders, Junior, Pony, and Children’s Championships, which kick off on Thursday at the two arenas of the Compiègne Equestrian Stadium.
All the Compiègne Classic events are broadcast live on GrandPrix.TV, where all the rounds are then available on demand.
