Wellington, Florida, USA – April 19, 2024– Nicholas Dello Joio ( USA ) piloted Cornet’s Cambridge to the top in the$ 32,000 JTWG, Inc. Grand Prix Qualifier CSI 3* during the 2024 ESP Spring Series, presented by Florida Coast Equipment. In the wintertime, the Adequan® Global Dressage Festival’s grass tournament field at Equestrian Village, where the competition was held this week, saw a return to the global jumper competition. As part of the ESP Annual Series, Wellington International’s flower series concludes on May 12 for five months.
The trail, built for fifty- seven horses by Andy Christiansen Jr. Only nine jumping clear and punching their way into the tie-breaking jump-off made it a testing one for ( USA ). Six horses returned for the speed test after three withdrew and decided to protect their animals for another day.
“The time was n’t really the focus, ” admitted Dello Joio, who returned first and set the pace at 37. 44 moments. I had a schedule, and I really thought it was a little slower because the question was the protracted gallop following the double. In the first round, the sixth was quite short and [Cornet’s Cambridge ] has a big swing. It’s almost as simple to find the right one and let him take the right action. I was a little wide it, but the sleep was pretty good. ”
Cornet’s Cambridge, the 12-year-old Oldenburg son of Balou Reventon, proved to be fast enough, and their day stood through the following five horses.
Lillie Keenan ( USA ) and new mount, Kick On, owned by Chansonette Farm, stopped the clock in 38. 59 hours for the runner-up place.
Samuel Parot ( CHI), a native of Chile, finished the pulpit with his own Chrystal Blue in 41. 07 hours.
Delo Joio’s final major collaboration with Cornet’s Cambridge was for the U. S. S. Show Jumping at the 2023 FEI World Cup Finals ™ in Omaha, NE, for user The Berry Group. Due to a hip impact condition, Dello Joio spent about a season undergoing and recovering from twice hip and groin surgery.
“ I did n’t ride from April to December, so I gave him some time off, ” said Dello Joio. It was a gradual process of returning, but he is so experienced, and it was always our purpose to climb back up.
At the conclusion of WEF last year, Jenni Giannini started with me, and I ca n’t thank her enough for being both a good horsewoman and a good rider. She rode my horses while I was away, got them back on, and let them relax for a while. She has all locked up. ”
Dello Joio’s long-term aim for the spring and summer of 2012 was to be chosen to compete in Paris’s Olympic Games, but his injury changed that goal. He will quickly move to Bedford, New York, where his father and U. S. S. Olympic metal champion, Norman, rode and trained. Cornet’s Cambridge is expected to regain its competitiveness on the global stage this summers.
