Monday News & Notes from The Event at TerraNova

If your idea of a good Sunday afternoon involves horses and caffeine, you’re in luck. Every Sunday in November, from 3–5 PM in Kennett Square, Matt and Cecily are hosting “Coffee and Horsemanship” — an informal, come-as-you-are gathering focused on groundwork, starting horses, problem-solving, and building better communication with your horse.

Each week, Matt will work a horse in the round pen while sharing the principles of The Soft Path — a relationship-based approach that emphasizes feel, flow, and understanding between horse and human. Bring your curiosity (and maybe a travel mug) — no registration, no fee, and yes, they promise decaf and snacks for the non-coffee drinkers.

If you’re interested in having your horse featured as a demo, or just want more details, text Matt or Cecily at 707-480-4501 or 415-259-8581.

We’ve all been there: the barn manager separation anxiety has afflicted us all at one point or another. Leaving your barn in someone else’s hands is a trust exercise on par with handing a toddler a chainsaw and saying, “Please be careful,” or handing your firstborn to a babysitter and whispering, “Please keep them alive.” Whether it’s for a day, a weekend getaway, or a once-in-a-lifetime vacation, horse owners and barn managers everywhere know the agony of wondering what’s happening back home. Horse Nation’s Deann Long Sloan writes on this topic here.

The Hagyard Midsouth Classic Three-Day is a longtime bucket list event for many riders, and this year the Classic format returned at the Training and Novice levels. Held at the Kentucky Horse Park, Midsouth is one event that provides athletes with the chance to ride on some of the storied cross country grounds for the iconic Kentucky Three-Day Event. Go behind the scenes of winning weekends for Christy Wood, DVM and Macy Clark, here.
