Kendra Claricia Brinkop Denies the Deauville Crowd the Marseillaise with Gatsby Le Magnific

Deauville, France – August 15, 2026 – Germany’s Kendra Claricia Brinkop (GER) and her ten-year-old gelding Gatsby Le Magnific claimed their first international victory together in the feature class of the day at the Longines Deauville Classic CSI 4*, organised by the GrandPrix Events teams. In this winning-round class, the Stephex Stables rider proved faster than France’s Romain Dreyfus (FRA), second aboard Comme Convenu, a son of Comme Il Faut. For Belgium, Wilm Vermeir (BEL), who had held the provisional lead, completed the top three with Adelio.

One look at the start list of the day’s feature class at the Longines Deauville Classic CSI 4* was enough to place Kendra Claricia Brinkop and Gatsby Le Magnific among the most serious contenders for victory. The two partners, who have already contested some prestigious classes, confirmed that status by delivering the fastest winning round of the afternoon, with poles set at 1.50m. While the rules of this format invite the thirteen best combinations from the first round to return for the shortened track, some clear-round pairs were left disappointed: four combinations who had jumped clear in the opening round were squeezed out of the top 13 and thus denied access to the Winning Round. France’s Cyrine Chérif 9FRA), Brazil’s Pedro Veniss (BRA), as well as Charles Henri Fermé (FRA) and Sylvain Misraoui could not fight for victory, though they still made the final classification, in fourteenth, fifteenth, sixteenth and seventeenth places respectively.

At the end of the final round, aboard her ten-year-old son of Action Breaker, the Stephex Stables rider proved the fastest in 36.50 seconds. Straight after her, Romain Dreyfus (FRA) did his best to beat that time as the second-to-last starter. Carried by a large Saturday crowd and riding Comme Convenu, a son of Comme Il Faut, the Frenchman ultimately had to settle for second, sixty-three hundredths adrift.

Clocking 37.67 seconds, Belgium’s Wilm Vermeir (BEL) completed the top three on Adelio, the pair’s best international performance to date. Competing in the Calvados with her Olympic champion and reigning world champion (for a few more days), H&M Indiana, Sweden’s Malin Baryard-Johnson (SWE) took fourth place, counting on the experience of her Kashmir van Schuttershof daughter to make the leaderboard at a strong rhythm, without taking excessive risks.

Final Results – €28,700 Range Rover Winning Round CSI 4*

2) Romain Dreyfus (FRA) & Comme Convenu – 0 / 0 – 37.13
