Dinard, France – July 21, 2025 – With Germany’s Richard Vogel (GER) and Britain’s Scott Brash crowned European champion and runner-up on Sunday, three French Olympic champions in Rio, including Kevin Staut (FRA), defending champion in Dinard, two French bronze medalists in Paris 2024, French rider Nina Mallevaey (FRA), world number one in the under-25 category, and an impressive start list, the Dinard International Show Jumping (July 24-27) promises to be spectacular.
The 2025 edition of the Dinard International Show Jumping Competition promises to be a high-level sporting event. A glance at the list of participants is enough to realize the excellence that awaits, with six Olympic champions, the top two from last weekend’s European Championships in La Coruña (Spain), 11 members of the world’s top 20, and a plethora of world and European medalists.
With #13 Abdel Saïd (BEL), #37 Grégory Wathelet (BEL), #43 Pieter Devos (BEL) and #45 Jérôme Guéry (BEL), Belgium, crowned European team champion last Friday in La Coruña, is sure to attract a lot of attention in this stage of the Rolex Series, a circuit that brings together seven of the most respected equestrian events in the world. The German delegation will be able to count on the brand new European individual champion #9 Richard Vogel (GER), #15 Daniel Deusser (GER), winner of the Rolex Grand Prix in La Baule last June, #56 Philippe Weishaupt (GER) and #74 Katrin Eckermann (GER), #12 Scott Brash (GBR), Olympic team champion in 2012 and 2024, winner of the world’s biggest competitions, and 2025 European vice-champion, will represent Great Britain.
Ranked number one in the world for thirty-three consecutive months, Sweden’s #3 Henrik von Eckermann (SWE) will be in Brittany. The United States will also be represented, mainly by #35 Lillie Keenan (USA). Austria will also have some strong contenders with its two best riders, #22 Max Kühner (AUT), who was still in the world top 10 not long ago and won in Dinard in 2023, and #39 Gerfried Puck (AUT). Ireland, which won thanks to Bertram Allen (IRL) in 2015, is still a force to be reckoned with. Number 16 Daniel Coyle (IRL), #21 Shane Sweetnam (IRL) and #24 Denis Lynch (IRL) will have the opportunity to prove it. Among the other contenders, Italy’s No. 1, #29 Giulia Martinego Marquet (ITA), will also be there. The Netherlands will be counting on #19 Harrie Smolders (NED) and Brazil on Luciana Diniz (BRA).
Ambassador for the competition, Switzerland’s #6 Steve Guerdat (SUI), “a lover of Dinard show jumping ”, is eagerly awaiting this event. Second last year, the 2012 Olympic champion dreams of adding the Rolex Grand Prix Ville de Dinard to his already impressive list of achievements. “This competition has it all. There’s the large, very natural grass track with elevation changes. It brings us back to the authenticity of our sport, with challenges to overcome and balance to find. It’s not just the width or height of the obstacles that you have to take into account. It’s the only time of year that we have a track like this. There’s also the history of the competition, the venue, which is a real arena, and an extraordinary audience of horse lovers and connoisseurs. The whole town is decked out in the colors of show jumping. It’s unique.” Particularly fond of derbies (victory at La Baule in June), the Swiss rider would also like to add the Saur Derby in Brittany to his list of achievements. Keep an eye out for his compatriot #7 Martin Fuchs (SUI), who won in 2021 with Conner 70 and then in 2022 with Leone Jei, who also gave him a victory earlier this month in the prestigious Rolex Grand Prix in Aachen.
The French will of course be counting on #11 Kevin Staut (FRA), last year’s winner of the Rolex Grand Prix Ville de Dinard with Beau de Laubry Z. “The Dinard Jumping is a fantastic competition with an extraordinary audience and a very special terrain with elevation changes. History permeates this competition, giving it another dimension. It’s a competition that goes back to the basics of our sport. ” The most consistent French rider of the past 15 years and gold medalist at the 2016 Olympics will have many compatriots at his side, including his two teammates from Rio, Philippe Rozier (FRA) and Roger-Yves Bost (FRA). Number 18 Julien Épaillard (FRA) and Olivier Perreau (FRA), who won bronze in the team event last summer in Versailles, will also be in Dinard. World number one in the under-25 category, #28 Nina Mallevaey (FRA) will be looking to confirm at Val Porée all the promise she has shown over the past few months. With Alexa Ferrer (FRA), who has been in great form in recent weeks and is now ranked No. 6 in France, Marc Dilasser (FRA), winner of the CSI 4* Grand Prix in Chantilly on July 13, Mégane Moissonier (FRA), Marie Demonte (FRA) and Nicolas Delmotte (FRA), winner of the Grand Prix in Dinard in 2017 with Ilex VP, the French delegation will be looking very strong.
Most of the CSI 5* riders will also participate in the CSI 3* with up-and-coming horses. Some are regulars at 5* events, others are local riders, but Edward Levy (FRA), Julien Gonin (FRA), Julien Lavarec (FRA), Margaux Rocuet (FRA), Alexandra Paillot (FRA), Robin Lesqueren (FRA), François-Xavier Boudant (FRA), Camille Condé Ferreira (FRA), Nicolas Layec (FRA) and a few other French riders will be joining them. They will also be reunited with a certain Michel Robert (FRA).

A multiple medalist in all the major international events for almost 50 years, the dean of riders, now 76 years old, will come to Dinard with Calesto Z, who propelled him to the top step of the podium at the Grand Prix CSI 3* at Le Pin au Haras on June 15. “I wanted to come back to Dinard,” he explains. It‘s a flagship competition. I won the Grand Prix with Grand Cœur in the early 1980s. The spectators are extraordinary, the terrain is fantastic, the conditions are very good. And what’s more, it’s a beautiful region. I’m sure I’ll have a lot of fun there.”
Despite the passing years, the Isère native is not ready to hang up his boots. “Life decides for me,” confides the team world champion in … 1982. My wife supports me and plays along with me, and my horses are doing well. I just want to enjoy myself in beautiful competitions. It’s my passion. I still love horses and competition. I have no limits.“
See you on Thursday at 8:15am for the start of the competition!
