Iván Serrano Accelerates to Victory in the BMW Autosa Trophy CSI 3*

Sariego, Spain – July 04, 2025 – The 2025 edition of the CSI 3* International Show Jumping Competition, organised by Yeguada Finca Maeza in Sariego, right in the heart of the Comarca de la Sidra, got underway with riders from 19 countries taking part in it. The opening day saw three Spanish victories, with two riders standing out as the stars: Iván Serrano and Hugo Álvarez Amaro.

Both riders — Iván Serrano from the Basque Country and Hugo Álvarez Amaro from Madrid — are part of the five-member team selected by the Royal Spanish Equestrian Federation to represent Spain at the European Show Jumping Championships next week. And today, at the magnificent facilities of Yeguada Finca Maeza, both proved they will arrive at the continental event in great form.

Iván Serrano (ESP) claimed victory in the €28,500 BMW Autosa Trophy, the day’s main class, which was a speed round with a jump-off for 48 horse-and-rider combinations over 1.45m fences. Eleven qualified for the deciding round, where the rider from Biscay was unstoppable with Rain Man, the horse he will ride at the European Championships.

Serrano produced another clear round in the jump-off, stopping the clock at 35.42 seconds with a bold, fast ride that gave him an impressive margin of almost three seconds ahead of runner-up Imma Roquet (ESP) with Elba del Maset.

Third place went to another Basque rider, Kevin González de Zárate (ESP) from Vitoria, who with Chinixen finishing in 38.30 seconds — just four hundredths behind the Catalan rider.

José Luis Fernández Álvarez, president of the Autosa Group, presented the winner’s trophy, while Christina Bares and Álvaro Arrieta awarded trophies to the second and third place riders respectively.
