After that, the big class of the day took place with the €105,500 Caixabank Trophy CSI 5*-W. An exciting 1.50m class with 47 competitors.
Hans-Dieter Dreher (GER) became the main character of the first day of this new edition of CSI 5*W A Coruña after winning the Caixabank Trophy in a time of 62.33 seconds. The experienced German rider achieved the fastest time, with Vestmalle des Cotis.
Second place in the 5* category on this opening day had a name: Jesús Garmendia (ESP) secured his second consecutive second-place with a time of 63.23 seconds, this time riding Callias.
Having started in the first position, French rider Simon Delestre (FRA) held onto a podium spot throughout the event, finishing third with Dexter Fontenis Z in 63.49 seconds.
After an exciting first day of competition, the action continues at the Casas Novas Equestrian Center with a new day of top-level equestrian competitions on Saturday, December 7.
The second day of competition will begins with the CSI 1* events: the Porsche Trophy at 1:30 PM, with a 1.30m heights, and the Leblond Lenoir Trophy at 4:00 PM, with a 1.40m heights.
The Marqués de Riscal Trophy will kick off the second day of CSI 5*-W at 6:00 PM. This will be a 1.50m timed event with no jump-off, before the day’s main event: the Longines Grand Prix, scheduled for 8:30 PM.
