News & Reading

A new documentary series featuring Rolex Grand Slam winner Pippa Funnell is now available to stream on ClipMyHorse.TV! From her beginnings riding ponies, to meeting her husband, William, to reflecting on success (and low times, too), Pippa captivates with her story on the big screen. You’ll need your ClipMyHorse.TV membership to watch, but you can log in and tune in here.

“When struggling in jumping, you can almost always link it back to a flat work weakness,” USEA EA21 coach Rebecca Brown as the morning of show jumping lessons kicked off at the East coast Regional I clinic at Stable View yesterday. “We’re always trying to connect the dots from what we did in the flatwork to what we’re doing in jumping. Inevitably, if [the riders] had a struggle yesterday in the flatwork, it shows itself in the jumping and gives us another opportunity to fill in the holes and strengthen the weak spots.” Read more coverage from the second day of learning here.

Lifelong horsewoman Karen Yates has never been one to follow convention—she competed at the then-Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event in 1993 without ever having schooled cross country beforehand. Now, her love for the sport shines through in a different way. A longtime supporter of the Kentucky Horse Park and its legacy, Karen has dedicated herself to helping grow eventing from the grassroots up through her popular—and completely free—“horse parties” at Copper Top Farm. These laid-back schooling events give riders of all ages and backgrounds a chance to experience cross-country in a safe, confidence-building environment. “If even one person gets excited and decides to pursue eventing, then it was worth it,” she says. Read a great feature on Karen and her impact in Kentucky (and beyond) here.
