Super Sunday at Sentower Park in Opglabbeek, Belgium, April 21, 2024 saw the war between Great Britain and Ireland competing for the top spot in the €28,575 Aloga Auction Grand Prix CSI 2*, with as many times before an British horse on the rise won. Emily Turkington ( IRL ) led Cornet in flawless fashion to victory in the main class of the week there this time.
Going up against 9 different configurations, out of the original 59 entered in the first round of the 1. 45m challenge, it was Turkington who thrived the most, securing the win aboard the 2014 grey Oldenburg gelding ( Cornet’s Prinz x Clarimo ) in 37. 51 hours.
Turnington’s feat was made even better by her defeat of Harry Charles ( GBR ), the 13th best rider in the world, who rode Bandit to take second place in 38 years. 12 hours.
Additionally, Joo Victor Castro ( BRA ) and Babacool left all the poles up for no penalties, securing bronze in 39. 01 moments.
