Rome, Italy – May 28, 2026 – Just as he did two years ago, Emilio Bicocchi (ITA) claimed victory in the second prize on the first day of the CSIO in Rome – Piazza di Siena competition. Just as he did two years ago, Emilio Bicocchi (ITA) claimed victory in the second prize on the first day of the CSIO in Rome – Piazza di Siena competition.
With a time of 24.16 seconds and a faultless round, the Tuscan rider from Follonica won the two-phase category (1.45m – €29,000, 69 starters) riding Hemerald d’Argonne, a French mare that did a consistent upgrade under his saddle.

Bicocchi pipped Germany’s Sophie Hinners (GER) to the post with Diamanda 4 as the latter two completed the second phase in 24.42 seconds.

Another Italian rider, Lorenzo Correddu (ITA), who rode Dalakani Chardonnet, earned bronze honors just eight-hundredths of a second behind the German duo. The pair are the Italian Under-25 champions.
For Bicocchi, who is competing in the Rome show jumping event for the twentieth time, this marks his eleventh victory at Piazza di Siena. The first one was a puissance class in 2005 and the most recent was in 2024.

“What can I say? I’m very pleased with Emerald. After winning another three-star CSIO event at Scuderia La Caccia two weeks ago, she has shown today that she can improve even further. I have two other Italian horses who are at her level, and I really hope that one of them will go on to compete in even more important events. However, I must thank the staff who helped me with the work at home and kept Emerald in excellent condition while I was away in the spring. This is evident from the results I’ve achieved with her and the other horses since I came back.”
