Conor Swail Dominates at Otomí, Claiming the $364,000 GNP Seguros Grand Prix CSI 5*

San Miguel de Allende, Mexico – October 24, 2026 – Ireland’s Conor Swail (IRL) enjoyed a remarkable Saturday at the GNP Seguros Otomí Grand Prix, claiming both of the day’s major classes. Just hours after winning the CSI2* 1.40m Clásico aboard Chactensky PS, the Irish rider returned to the winner’s circle with Clonterm Obolensky, capturing the $364,000 GNP Seguros Grand Prix CSI 5* – 1.60m.

Brazilian course designer Guilherme Jorge (BRA) set a 1.60m track befitting the CSI 5* level, with a combination of technical questions that tested the 28 horse-and-rider pairs. Only three combinations completed the opening round without faults to advance to the jump-off.

The final fence, obstacle 13, proved to be one of the most influential elements of the course, while fences 5 and 6 also played a role in shaping the results of the first round. Swail and Clonterm Obolensky, Colombia’s John Perez Bohm (COL) on Lareusa S, and New Zealand’s Sharn Wordley (NZL) with Brin d’Or de Haute Melen Z were the only combinations to advance to the decisive round.

Conor Swail (IRL) & Clonterm Obolensky

Swail delivered another flawless performance aboard Clonterm Obolensky, stopping the clock at 43.78 seconds and putting the pressure on his two remaining rivals.

John Perez Bohm (COL) & Lareusa S

Perez Bohm (COL) attempted to challenge the leading time with Lareusa S, but faults at element 10C of the double combination and the wall left the Colombian rider with eight faults in 45.22 seconds.

Sharn Wordley (NZL) & Brin d’Or de Haute Melen Z

Sharn Wordley (NZL) was the last contender for victory aboard Brin d’Or de Haute Melen Z. However, a rail at element 10C ended his chances of a clear round. He crossed the finish line in 45.08 seconds with four faults, securing second place.

With both challengers unable to match his double-clear performance, Swail claimed the Grand Prix title, while Wordley finished second and Perez Bohm completed the podium in third.

The victory capped an outstanding day for the Irish rider, who had already secured the $24,300 Banorte Clásico CSI 2* earlier on Saturday with Chactensky PS, finishing more than a second ahead of his closest rival.

Two victories, two different horses and the top honors in both major classes highlighted a memorable day for Swail at Otomí.
