Barbara Schnieper’s Speed Prevails in the Thermoplan Prize at Basel

CSI 5*

Basel, Switzerland – January 09, 2026 – Barbara Schnieper (SUI) won the €30,300 Thermoplan Prize CSI 5*-W, a 145 cm speed class that kicked off a fantastic Friday at the Longines CHI CLASSIC Basel. The rider from Solothurn made her mark as the fifth starter, riding the experienced Swiss mare Judy KM towards a clean round and stopping the timers in 61.78 seconds. None of the 50 or so participants who followed were able to match this time.

Second place went to France’s Marc Dilasser (USA) with Chamann Has. He was 1.19 seconds behind the winning time. Third place was claimed by Japan’s Eiken Sato on Milva RB in 63.17 seconds.

The other Swiss placings were: Niklaus Rutschi on Amar des Brimbelles Z in sixth place (64.10), Martin Fuchs (SUI) with Love de Vie in seventh place (64.20) and Dominik Fuhrer (SUI) on Goodluck de la Bauche in eighth place (64.87).

“I made up time between jumps 3 and 4. Judy was almost a little too fast in that turn,” said Barbara Schnieper with a laugh. “I am very happy to be able to celebrate this premiere here in front of my home crowd.”
