Philip McGuane Blazes Ahead in the $25,000 Great Oak Speed Stake CSI 2*, presented by Eastern Hay

North Salem, United States – September 20, 2025 – The podium finishers in Saturday afternoon’s $25,000 Great Oak Speed Stake CSI 2*, presented by Eastern Hay were in a class of their own at the 2025 Old Salem Farm September Horse Shows presented by J.P. Morgan Private Bank, with four seconds separating first and second, 2.5 seconds separating second and third, and 3.3 seconds separating third and fourth. Blazing well ahead of his fellow competitors was Ireland’s Philip McGuane (IRL), who claimed top honors in 58.10 seconds aboard Linguini de La Pomme.

David O’Brien (IRL) & Coleccini

Of the 14 entries representing four countries in Saturday’s $25,000 Great Oak Speed Stake, McGuane and Evergate Stables’ 14-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare were the only horse-and-rider combination to navigate Ken Krome’s (USA) 14-effort, 1.40m course without fault in under a minute. They stopped the clock in 58.10 seconds, exactly four seconds faster than fellow Irishman David O’Brien (IRL), who earned second place with Leap Year Farm’s 11-year-old Dutch Riding mare Coleccini (0/62.10).

Lauren Whitlock (USA) & Diamantina Beaufour

Lauren Whitlock (USA) took third in 64.67 seconds aboard Ariston’s 12-year-old Selle Français mare Diamantina Beaufour. Her fellow American Maison McIntyre finished fourth in 67.90 seconds with Northern Light, Clover M Sporthorses LLC’s 14-year-old Swedish Warmblood mare. Israel’s Steven Bluman rounded out the top five with a faultless 68.36-second score aboard Chice Lotti M, Blue Star Investments’ 8-year-old Westphalian mare.

With the beautiful backdrop of Westchester County’s surrounding horse country, the Old Salem Farm September Horse Shows presented by J.P. Morgan Private Bank feature two weeks of world-class competition on par with what everyone has come to expect from Old Salem Farm.
